We've added panels on the sides and the sleeves in a very high-stretch yet tightly knit fabric that allows us to give the jacket a modern, close-to-body fit for aero gains on any terrain, and it actually keeps more heat in than a jacket that's flapping about. We've kept it very compact so that it can pack away into minimal space in a jersey pocket. We made it completely waterproof and compact, and, as you’d expect from Castelli, we also gave it an amazing on-bike fit, yet it’s still roomy enough to fit over a Gabba. This jacket is an emergency piece, so we knew you wouldn’t want to break the bank with it, but the only real compromise compared to our top-of-the-line offerings is in breathability. THE EPIC RIDE JERSEY This is the jersey for your big days in the saddle. It's a high-performance piece of equipment that values comfort and utility, not just pro race aerodynamics and minimalism. The main body fabric is a polyester blend with just a bit of Lycra for perfect fit and moisture management. It's actually based on the same Velocity Rev3 fabric we use in our Aero Race Jersey, but we gave it about 20% more body for all-around performance and to better support the pockets. We use a 3D mesh through the back, along with a flat mesh on the side panels. The pockets are bit larger than those on our race jerseys, for extra carrying capacity, and there's a zippered pocket for keys and money. We use a YKK Vislon zipper for easiest sliding when closing or opening and our GIRO3 elastic waistband to distribute the load. It brings together three different fabrics for fit as well as comfort. The main jersey fabric is a soft 100% polyester micromesh with Castelli's prosecco wicking treatment to keep you dry. Side panels are in a stretch mesh for ventilation and improved fit. The sleeves are lifted directly from Castelli's pro race jersey, but in this case because the four-way-stretch fabric with raw-cut sleeve endings is as comfortable as it is aerodynamic. The velocissima jersey is not lacking in technical details, but it was also designed to look good.
