The main body fabric is a polyester blend with just a bit of Lycra for perfect fit and moisture management. It's actually based on the same Velocity Rev3 fabric we use in our Aero Race Jersey, but we gave it about 20% more body for all-around performance and to better support the pockets. We use a 3D mesh through the back, along with a flat mesh on the side panels. The pockets are bit larger than those on our race jerseys, for extra carrying capacity, and there's a zippered pocket for keys and money. We use a YKK Vislon zipper for easiest sliding when closing or opening and our GIRO3 elastic waistband to distribute the load. The name velocissima means "very fast" in Italian, and indeed there's a lot of speed in this jersey, even though it wasn't designed as a race jersey. It brings together three different fabrics for fit as well as comfort. The main jersey fabric is a soft 100% polyester micromesh with Castelli's prosecco wicking treatment to keep you dry. Side panels are in a stretch mesh for ventilation and improved fit. The sleeves are lifted directly from Castelli's pro race jersey, but in this case because the four-way-stretch fabric with raw-cut sleeve endings is as comfortable as it is aerodynamic. The velocissima jersey is not lacking in technical details, but it was also designed to look good. The fabrics are piece-dyed for rich color, and then they get a sublimated overprint for the tone-on-tone graphic over the shoulders. To begin, they applied their proven circular knit miniCheck Tex, which is a highly elastic 3D knit fabric that’s been specifically developed with breathability and moisture transfer in mind. At the rear, they incorporated their Stabilizer textile, which secures the jersey with its limited vertical-stretch composition. The aggressive position speed-focused riders take also informed the material choice for the new raw + bonded sleeves, yoke, and pockets, which needed to be as buttery smooth and flexible as possible. Assos' fine-gauge warp knit Push Pull textile was just the ticket, providing high UV protection (UPF 50+) along with its quick-drying, bi-stretch properties. Beyond the more precise aeroFit patterning, additional purpose-driven details also contribute to increased speed and comfort.
